Tips for Choosing Tiling

Choosing tiling for a new home or renovation can be fairly daunting task. There are so many tiling alternatives including colour and size not to mention glazed, porcelain, ceramic, glass, cork or natural stone. A good tiling job should last 50 years, so it is worth doing some research before you commit.
Talk to your Melbourne tiler, The Tiling Specialist, about your ideas. We are familiar with the range of tiling products and are more than happy to advise you on what works and what doesn't. Here's some tips and points to consider before choosing your tiling:
  • The first thing to consider is the wear and tear your tiling is likely to face. For example, laundry or bathroom tiling will be exposed to a lot of water, patio tiling will be exposed to weather etc.
  • When you do choose your tiling, always order extra in case you have any breakages in years to come.
  • Don't be fooled by bargain prices. Cheaper tiling may seem tempting but can often be of poorer quality. End of stock sales that are discounting quality tiles are a better option. Ask The Tiling Specialists, if you are unsure of quality.
  • Expansion and contraction of tiling can make sizes vary - be sure to check sizes when you are purchasing them.
  • Do your research before making your tiling selection. Look at online products, visit showrooms, gather samples, get recommendations and talk to The Tiling Specialist - your Melbourne tiler.
